The race of ITA Airways to fleet renewal will take a sharp acceleration in 2023. As written in recent weeks, 39 new planes will enter the fleet this year, delivery delays aside. The business plan is not slowing down and everything is proceeding as planned while waiting for Lufthansa moves decisive step toward buying Italian airline.

The first 2023 delivery has just been painted in Ireland and will enter service in the coming days. It will be the first example of the NEO family in ITA's fleet. The acronym NEO stands for New Engine Option and identifies the latest evolutionary step of Airbus' bestseller.
In terms of outfitting, there should be no major surprises. The configuration will be the classic 3-3, as on the entire short/medium range fleet.
This aircraft was named after Giacinto Facchetti, a longtime Inter player, and from the next few days will enter service on routes from Fiumicino and Linate to Italian and European destinations. In total there will be 30 new single-aisle aircraft to enter service by the end of the year, the second A320neo is already being prepared, also in Ireland.
In addition to the A320neo, more A220s and especially the first A321lr are expected to arrive this year.
From spring to the end of the year, however, the following is planned. the delivery of the new A330/900neo, aircraft that will strengthen the fleet for long-haul. Again, barring delays, there will be 9 aircraft of this model in the ITA fleet by the end of 2023.
