One of my goals is to be able to review. all Centurion lounges present in the world. I am not even halfway there, but it is fair to set targets.
In this article:
I had already passed through here last year, but the lounge was still in half service due to covid and I had found it closed. This time the São Paulo airport is alive and full of travelers.
Access
These lounges are open to Amex Platinum or Centurion cardholders, there are no other ways. Italian holders of these cards can enter for free with a guest as often as they want. However, it is important to remember that you must have the physical card to show and swipe, not just the one in the wallet.
Location
The lounge is located on the second floor above the duty free area, in the same airplane where there are 4 other lounges: Latam, Mastercard Black, American Airlines and Banco Safra, this one is independent and is the one used by ITA, Lufthansa and other carriers as well as being available to Priority Pass holders (after 11 pm).
It is literally impossible to miss given the huge writing on the wall.
The lounge
The room has no view, and this is generally a negative factor. Here it is saved by the fact that it is open to the termina anyway and the ceiling is really high, so it remains very bright.
It is large, with different solutions suitable for all kinds of travelers. There is a relaxation area in the center with a big screen where they broadcast the Milan derby live.
The decor is very nice, as always in these lounges.
There are different types of seating, from classic dining to seating designed for relaxation. There are small booths where you can isolate yourself from the rest of the lounge.
There is also a small beach, without sand.
A relaxation area where silence is invited, ideal for taking a nap before takeoff.
There is a small room designed for children. In short, there is everything that centurions offer that makes these lounges superior, often, even to official company lounges
The restaurant for the Centurions
Holders of the most exclusive of cards, namely American Express' famous black card, have access to a restaurant with a dedicated menu-a just the right pampering for those with this card, which, I remind you, is by invitation only.
The buffet
For all other guests there is a buffet, very rich and varied as in all Centurions. In fact, I dare say we are above the average Centurion level here.
Of course, there is not the finger food found in the London lounge, but the one at Heathrow is a chapter apart. The choice really ranges from savory to sweet, from hot to cold, a truly enviable buffet in terms of proposal and quality.
Then there is, unfailingly, a super bar with bartenders ready to prepare all kinds of cocktails and serve a long list of spirits. Of course, there are coolers for where you can grab whatever you want on the fly.
In conclusion
This makes it into the top5 Centurion lounges I've visited and I have to say that in South America between Mexico City and Buenos Aires Amex really offers a great service that makes me regret more and more the lack of a lounge on Italian soil.
Pro
- Beautiful and there is everything there needs to be
