Over the years here at TFC we have talked little about the Miles&More loyalty program., of course we have also flown aboard Lufthansa group planes, but we have dealt little with the German loyalty program for various reasons, however now that we are on the eve of the sale of ITA Airways own to the German carrier it becomes almost obligatory to turn the light on this program as well.
Mileage Bargain
In this article:
We have talked before about the monthly offers on award tickets in the Miles&More program. In German they have the name Meilenschnaeppchen.
These offers are. similar to the monthly Flying Blue promotions and Singapore Airlines' Spontaneous Escapes and allow for the following. detach award tickets at a cost, in points, significantly lower than the standard one.
February's offerings
This month's promos allow you to fly from almost any airport served by all Lufthansa Group airlines To more than 100 destinations in Europe and around the world.
Discounts vary by destination and fare class, and tickets must be booked by February 28 to fly between May 15 and June 30, 2023.
There are round-trip tickets at a fixed price ranging from 15 to 70 M&M points.
Some examples of tickets on offer
Flying to Germany in economy with 15 thousand points + taxes from virtually all Italian airports. Or Flying to Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Poland in business with 25 thousand points + tax.
But it is on the long haul that interesting proposals can be found. Always with 25k points + tax it is possible to fly in economy throughout the Middle East (Dubai, Riyadh, Bahrain, Kuwait, Dammam) and Africa (Luanda, Cairo).
If you have 30k M&M points to invest. it is possible among other destinations to fly in premium economy to the Middle East, or to Canada and the United States in economy, obviously always plus taxes for a round-trip ticket.
With 40k points you can fly to Toronto, Montreal and Dallas in premium economy. Again, LH is currently offering the old PE cabin and will soon begin flying the completely new one, but it is impossible to know today if and when it will be operational and on which routes.
Business class offerings
Before moving on to the most interesting cabin-related offers, since seats in First are never put on offer, it is good to remember that all the group companies have cabins set up differently from Lufthansa's.
Austrian, Brussels and Swiss offer a business class cabin with the famous chair called the throne, because of the cabin configuration, while talking about LH there is really everything. From the iconic 747/8 where business class is also outfitted with a 2-2-2 configuration, to the new A350s that offer direct aisle access and much more comfort.
There are five destinations that can be reached in business class with only 55k points: Chicago and Detroit in the USA, Montreal and Toronto in Canada, and Delhi in India.
With 70k points instead you can boarding Lufthansa's 747/8 and fly to Bogota, or take Swiss's 777/300 and fly to Tokyo.
In conclusion
If as it seems, the Volare program will be incorporated into Miles&More, these offers will surely become an interesting and convenient way to book award tickets when compared to the historical scarcity of award seats in the old Millemiglia program will be a real indigestion for all Italian frequent flyers.
