The airport in the capital of the Slovak Republic looks like a cathedral in the desert. The proximity to Vienna Airport, which is less than 30 minutes away by car, makes it much more convenient for companies and residents to fly from Austria.
In this article:
In fact, only low-cost airlines fly here., mainly Ryanair, but there are still fewer than 20 flights a day. It's too bad because the airport is modern, very bright, and super high-tech, thanks in part to the new scanners that allow you to stop removing anything from your carry-on luggage.
So like Linate and Fiumicino, one of the few airports in Europe to offer this technology.
Once past the controls, the gate area is immediate, the thing I appreciated about the stopover is that you don't go through duty free. If you want, there are stores to visit but it is all very small and quiet.
Location
This lounge is located at the end of the terminal, near Gate A1, opposite the section that houses the controls for the non-Schengen flight area. Let's say there is a lack of signage for the lounge, except for a small sign that is covered by a display, however.
Just follow the signs to the restrooms; the lounge is directly in front.
Access
It is called Caproni Mastercard, but access is granted to Priority Pass and Dragon Pass holders.
The Loungebuddy app also signaled me that I could log in using my Amex Platinum credit card, but I didn't see any signage about it
The Lounge
The hall is small, there will be less than 50 seats, but given the traffic at this airport I think it is adequate. Also it should be considered that a second lounge is present in the non-Schengen area of the airport.
I could say small but beautiful: the view is of the terminal and the outside. It is not super bright, but still the light is soothing because of the large windows.
If it were at any busier airport it would definitely be one to visit. Here, given the traffic, it is possible to arrive 10 minutes before the gate opens and jump right on board.
Food & Beverage
There is a small buffet area just behind the reception desk. It doesn't offer much, but it's all parameterized to the rest of the lounge, so there's everything that's fair to expect from such a lounge.
Snacks, sandwiches, drink tap and coolers filled with beers and sodas. There are far more emblazoned airports that offer less in their lounges than what is in this room.
In conclusion
This lounge is really nice, dare I say wasted for an airport as lightly trafficked as Bratislava. It is there, though, and if you go through it, you will not be disappointed. If we think that, for example, at Malpensa Terminal 2 there are no lounges, and this is worth an extra half a rating point for the Bratislava lounge.
