When we talk about changes in loyalty programs we always think of the worst, that is, devaluations of points or worsening of conditions and benefits that loyalty programs give to users, just think for example of the recent change made by Delta that removed lounge use based on status.
What changes in Flying Blue

As of March 28, 2023, some Flying Blue benefits will change. The changes will differ depending on the level held.
Explorer members:
- 10% fixed discount on your first additional baggage.
Silver members:
- paid seats become free the day before departure (DBD) instead of paying a fare, albeit discounted;
- Guaranteed discount of 25% on lounge access until the day before departure.
Gold members:
- paid seats become free 3 days before departure (DBD) instead of paying a fare, albeit discounted;
- Free seat in Economy Comfort if requested 3 days before departure (payment of discounted fare lapses).
Platinum members:
- No changes have been made to its benefits;
In conclusion
A small change, but a nice gesture by Air France and KLM toward the lower levels of the loyalty program. The last time benefits had been touched gold members. had lost the chance to reserve seats at La Premiere with points.
From the summer, however, gold members will be able to travel more comfortably without spending anything, seats permitting.
