Ryanair dominance on domestic routes
A total of 26 domestic routes are being operated from Palermo Airport this summer. As for Ryanair, the Irish company provides 21 of the 26 routes totals. The exclusive flights are to Alghero, Bari, Bologna, Brindisi, Cagliari, Cuneo, Forli, Genoa, Parma, Perugia, Pisa, Rimini, and Trieste.
The links for Milan-Bergamo, on the other hand, see the commitments of both Ryanair both of Aeroitalia: both companies also fly from Palermo to Rome Fiumicino (where Ita Airways also flies). On Palermo-Venice, however, the challenge is between Ryanair and Wizz Air flights.
The other Ryanair flights are to Florence (where Vueling also flies), Milan Malpensa (route also operated by easyJet and Italian carrier Neos), Naples (along with easyJet and Volotea), Turin (there is also Volotea) and Verona (operated by Volotea and Neos).
The Spanish airline Volotea, finally, also flies to Ancona and Olbia exclusively (in addition to the aforementioned Verona, Turin and Naples). Danish carrier Dat connects the islands of Lampedusa and Pantelleria with the Sicilian capital's airport (on a territorial continuity basis).
Italian carriers Ita Airways and Neos, finally, connect Palermo airport with Milan Linate and Rome Fiumicino (Ita); Verona, and Milan Malpensa (Neos).
