I have been using Airalo for over a year now, here is my experience with the world of eSim on the go
Using eSims on the go allows you to save money and always be connected, thanks to TFC you also have a 3$ discount on the first line

Until recently, when I traveled I always carried a forklift, a cell phone that I used only as a hotspot to get internet on vacation. It doesn't matter whether I was going to Japan or the U.S., indeed before the EU abolished roaming among the 27 EU countries it was a hunt for the cheapest rate, even to go for an afternoon in France.
In this article:
As soon as I got off the plane, I was looking for where to buy a sim. not knowing if and how I could eventually recharge it and having to hustle around with two phones all the time. Stress.
Since on iPhones, but also on various Android phones such as Samsung's Galaxy or Google's Pixel, it is possible to virtually install sims on the phone everything has become extremely easier.
I since last year, that is, since I discovered it, I only use Airalo, a kind of global eSim marketplace. To date I have used it in so many places from the United States to Argentina, from Oman to Dubai, and of course all over Asia.
I have a Vodafone corporate plan that not only gives me unlimited minutes and gigs throughout Italy and Europe, but also includes 5gb of traffic per month in 15 countries. Very often though I don't get enough since as you see on this site I travel a lot. Other times however where I go I am not covered so I have to find a plan B.
Airalo in these months has never failed me: it is easy to understand and use and really has a lot of options.
What are the costs of eSim
There is no one-size-fits-all price list: country you go cost you find. In general, however, all packages are divided by Giga in a given time period. For example, 3GB to be consumed in 30 days in Asia cost me 8.5$, while the same gigs in Oman and Dubai cost me 39€.
A lot depends on what use you are going to make and what the individual traveler's habits are. I personally like to take it easy so I prefer to take a bigger package and not have to worry about the risk of running out of gas.
In any case, the system keeps the user informed by sending regular emails to notify of the expiration of the package
Airalo also has a rewards feature that allows the user to get immediate 7% cashback on every plan purchased, a way to save further. And thanks to TFC you can also get a 3$ discount on your first eSim. You'll just need to use the discount code MATTEO4312 putting it on your first purchase and thus saving even more than the 50% on your order.
TFC readers now also have access to a special promotion that allows them to save not only on their first purchase, but on all subsequent purchases.
The article I wrote in the past few weeks. liked the app developers who contacted me and offered me the Opportunity to have a discount code valid until summer 2024 for all users, even for those who have already used the app.
New clients who download and install the app may have 15% discount on the first transaction, while those who have already used the app will have the opportunity to discount 10% from all future purchases.
The code to be entered are:
- New customers TFC15 to obtain the 15% discount on the first order
- Active customers TFC10 to obtain the 10% of discount on all orders
At this point I recommend considering which of the two solutions is more convenient between the 3€ discount for the first purchase or the 15% discount, again for the first order.
How Airalo works
Once you download the app and set up your account, simply select the destination where you are (or where you plan to travel), choose the most suitable plan, pay, and install the eSim.
One very useful feature that I have used recently is the regional eSim feature. If you are planning a trip that touches several countries, you can opt for a package that covers several countries instead of just one, and in this way you will be able to save money by making a single purchase.
You don't have to worry about anything, because the plans are not auto-renewing and if you want you can even renew them without having to go crazy.
How to activate eSim
Let me preface this by saying that being an iOS user, I have no experience with the Android world: In the case of iPhone does everything the app. Once the order is completed, payment with Apple Pay fast and without having to enter data or anything else, you can start the eSim installation directly from the app.
The steps are always the same. You have to decide how to manage the two lines. I don't remove my sim also because then I can continue to use my phone normally, receive and make calls without any hassle. The whole thing takes a couple of minutes and everything is up and running without any stress. Through the app, it is always possible to check the status of the eSim, remaining traffic and recharge it if necessary.
Airalo discount code
All TFC readers who, after downloading the app, will use TFC15 as voucher code will receive a discount of 15% on their first purchase. If, however you are already an Airalo customer using the code TFC10 you can have 10% on all future purchases, and by doing so you will also help TFC produce content.
