Last year, June 2, 2022 had been the debut of the A350, with Roberto Baggio on board ITA Airways' new flagship had taken off for Argentina, tomorrow 365 days away will be a new debut. On the occasion of Italian Republic Day, ITA Airways inaugurates the new ITA Airways Rome Fiumicino - Washington Dulles flight with the entry into operation of the new Airbus A330neo.

Washington destination kicks off ITA Airways' intercontinental network expansion starting this summer 2023 season, supported by the entry into the fleet of the new Airbus A330neo, which will make its first commercial flight tomorrow.
The Airbus A330neo is the ultimate benchmark for technology, digitalization, innovation, efficiency and design under the banner of Made in Italy, reflecting the core pillars of ITA Airways.
The new Airbus, dedicated to champion Gelindo Bordin, was entirely configured for the flag carrier, with the award-winning Airspace cabin, interiors signed by designer Walter De Silva, the latest generation IFE system, and, to crown the Italian-ness of the in-flight experience, menus signed by Michelin-starred chef Gian Piero Vivalda and uniforms made with stylistic advice from Brunello Cucinelli worn by the flight crew.
ITA Airways' new Rome-Washington direct flight will provide 5 weekly frequencies until July 2, rising to a daily operation in the peak season from August 1 to October 28, 2023.
For ITA Airways, 2023 will be the year of the big investment toward the intercontinental market, which will see the opening not only of Washington, but from Rome Fiumicino also of San Francisco in July and Rio de Janeiro in October. ITA Airways' expansion on long-haul is one of the main pillars of the flag carrier's strategy, as it not only generates profitability but simultaneously increases short-haul, helping to double the capacity of the intercontinental network.
The United States is the top international market for ITA Airways. and the most strategic after Italy, as well as the country with the largest number of citizens of Italian descent. Therefore, direct flights from North America to Italy are not only itineraries for leisure and business travel, but also provide connectivity to the Italian community.
With direct flights connecting Rome Fiumicino and Milan Malpensa to New York, Miami, Boston, and Los Angeles, ITA Airways aims to become the carrier of choice between North America and Italy and, via Rome, to Europe and the Mediterranean. Also, with new North American destinations departing this summer from Rome Fiumicino to Washington and San Francisco, the Company will operate 122 weekly frequencies between North America and Italy in the middle of the summer season.
In addition, thanks to the codeshare agreement with Delta, there are more than 100 domestic destinations that ITA Airways customers can access through the hubs of the U.S. airline's domestic network, with 40 destinations served through New York JFK and an equally significant number of connections from Boston, Miami, Los Angeles, and Washington that can meet the needs of business and leisure customers.
