The electric dream for thecommercial aviation is getting closer, a matter of a few years now. Many manufacturers and airlines are developing and investing in electric-powered aircraft models capable of flying (for now) short distances.
In this article:
Thus, in a classic marketing stunt, the airline Sas has set a date in the calendar to get its first electric flight off the ground and in the meantime already plans to fill the planes, opening sales to its customers.
The three special flights
Appointment, therefore, to 2028 with three special flights operated by the Scandinavian airline. The day and time of departure as well as the routes that will be flown remain secret for the time being.
Sas plans to offer for sale 30 places available for each of the three flights: reservations will open on June 2 starting at 12 noon (CET time) for passengers in Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
How to book
The price of tickets will always be 1,946 Danish kroner (approx. 260 euro), Norwegian kroner (160 euros) or Swedish kroner (167 euros) including various taxes and fees, and will have to Be paid within 30 days before the departure of the flight (which will be communicated by email to passengers who manage to reserve their seats on board before others).
Sas has launched a special site where tickets can be booked at this address: flysas.com/electric . Only two seats can be reserved per reservation or per single buyer.
The 1,946 crowns in the tariff is a symbolic price that recalls the year of foundation Scandinavian airline.
30-seat planes
In September 2022, Sas signed an agreement with the Swedish company from Gothenburg, Heart Aerospace, For the production of electric aircraft.
Specifically, the company will operate with the ES-30 by Heart Aerospace, small 30-seat aircraft with a range of 200 kilometers in all-electric mode, which can, however, reach 800 kilometers in hybrid mode.
The ceo of Sas, Anko van der Werff , he stressed:
"Since its inception in 1946, Sas has been one of the pioneering carriers in the air transportation industry, being, for example, the first commercial airline operator to fly over the North Pole to significantly reduce flight time between continents. An innovative activity for which Sas received the Columbus Prize. The fact that we can now invite our passengers to this next major milestone in the future of aviation is a natural continuation of that pioneering spirit and a significant step in our journey toward more sustainable aviation."
