In recent months Virgin Atlantic, carrier recently joined Skyteam, has launched a series of offers to book discounted award tickets.
In this article:
New promo saves 30% on a list of destinations Among those in the VS long-haul network.
The promotion expires on July 24
All users enrolled in the Virgin Atlantic loyalty program called Flying Club, can save 30% on the number of points required for award tickets, on a selection of routes.
VS is a British company and has its main hub at London Heathrow Terminal 3. Here is the Clubhouse, probably one of the top 5 lounges in the world. Here guests can skip the checkpoint queue thanks to a dedicated elevator, and the vast majority of flights depart from here.
The routes on offer are as follows:
- From London Heathrow To: Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Orlando, San Francisco, Seattle, Tampa, Washington
- From Manchester verso: Atlanta, Las Vegas, New York, Orlando
- From Edinburgh in Orlando
Conditions of the offer
The promotion is valid for tickets redeemed by July 24, for Fly until September 30, 2023. The discount is applied only for travel with Virgin Atlantic and not for travel with partner airlines.
Only the number of points required is reduced by 30% and not the fees, fees and surcharges imposed by the carrier, which are not minor. The discount is applied to all flights, in all classes, and the discounted price is shown when you search in the appropriate section of Virgin Atlantic's website.
Is this offer worthwhile?
Fly from London to New York ( and vice versa) for only 7000 points + tax aboard Virgin's state-of-the-art fleet, maybe on the brand new A330/900neo, the same as ITA Airways, is a real bargain.
The largest discount is obtained for Fly in Upper Class, That's what business class aboard the Virgin fleet is called. The lowest price I've found is 33,200 FC points, what affects it is the taxes which amount to $876 one way, a real drain.
In conclusion
More and more carriers are launching these discounts on last minute tickets-a way to fill up planes and get members to spend the points in their accounts. This is not the first time Virgin Atlantic has launched these offers, and if you want to try this airline's onboard service, they are the cheapest way to do it.
