The Japanese airline All Nippon Airways (ANA) its second special Pokemon-themed aircraft in a matter of months. This past June 4, in fact, the ANA-Pokémon Company had seen the first NH Pikachu Jet take off on Asian routes.
In this article:
From next August 31, 2023, however, it will be the turn of Eevee Jet NH, second customized aircraft that will connect Tokyo Haneda Airport with San Francisco, New York and London.
We often talk about special liveries dedicated to movies, characters, or simply advertising, in this case (as with EVA Air), however, the experience does not stop with the outside of the plane; all the interior services are special as well.
The ANA-Pokemon Concept
A colorful and themed livery will then greet guests on selected flights between Japan and the Use and the United Kingdom, but it is in the cabin where the entire Pokemon Air Adventures experience will take place. In fact, the cabin of the Eevee Jet NH - like that of the Pikachu Jet NH - features limited edition designs on the aprons of cabin attendants, on paper cups, napkins, and headrest covers.
Upon boarding, moreover, passengers will be greeted with A music designed to make them relive the world of Pokemon and will receive a commemorative boarding certificate with the original design of Eevee Jet NH.
In dedicated site to the special jets, there is also talk of a Pokemon-themed onboard entertainment system, a series of souvenirs being distributed (wooden tags, commemorative stickers and boarding passes), and there is the merchandising section where you can buy some products on board.
"With the relaxation of travel restrictions, "Pokémon Air Adventures" is a project designed to enrich the excitement of travel by riding the world of Pokémon. The new initiative is a testament to the airline's ongoing commitment to ensure that people can once again experience the joy of travel and the pleasure of mobility," the airline's note stressed.
Waiting for the flight over Milan
It is worth mentioning that to date ANA Still not flying over Italy, despite waiting for the start of the link between Tokyo Haneda and Milan Malpensa. The route, which was announced in late 2019 and was supposed to start with the 2020 summer schedule, has been suspended due to the pandemic, and for the time being ANA has not included it among the routes restored in 2023.
The hope is that the Japanese airline will be able to launch the link by spring 2024.
To experience ANA's Pokemon Air Adventures, therefore, one must fly in connection via Munich and Frankfurt, thanks to codeshare with Lufthansa and, perhaps soon, Ita Airways (when the sale of the airline and the transition to Star Alliance is completed).
From Rome, in any case, you can reach right to Tokyo Haneda with the direct connection of Ita Airways from Rome Fiumicino and operated with the flagship, the A350.
Where the Pokemon Eevee will fly
"Pokemon Eevee has the ability to evolve into various forms. Eevee and its evolutions, such as Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon, are depicted as they move into the future together with Pikachu and with great confidence set off on a journey through the skies together with people flying to new destinations," the company recalls in its press note.
The customized Eevee Jet NH aircraft will enter service on international routes starting August 31, 2023 for at least five years. The aircraft is a 212-seat Boeing 777-300ER and takes off, as mentioned above, from Tokyo Haneda to London (flight codes are NH211/NH212), New York (NH110/NH109/NH160/NH159) and San Francisco (NH108/NH107).
The first themed aircraft, however, the Pikachu Jet NH is a Boeing 787-9 with 246 seats seat that has been flying alternately from Tokyo to Manila, Jakarta, Singapore, Bangkok, New Delhi,Sidney, Ho Chi Min, Vancouver and Honolulu since June 4.
Other Pokemon Air Adventures
Pokemon Air Adventures is not exclusive to ANA; in fact, other carriers have launched the special planes before the Japanese airline.
The dedicated website lists the project's partner carriers: Scoot (a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines), China Airlines e Skymark Airlines already have aircraft in their fleet with dedicated livery and ad hoc onboard experience.
The other example Eva Air-Hello Kitty
Taiwan's airline, Eva Air, has for years now launched an evening of special liveries dedicated to the world of characters from the Japanese Sanrio universe, especially on the most famous: Hello Kitty.
From thecheck-in to on-board experience, in fact, the great innovation introduced by Eva Air was to create a unique concept made of marketing, design and entertainment unusual for the world of air transportation.
