The opening of the Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island has been announced for February 2021, at the same time as the sixth Hilton property the Canopy Mahé, more than two years later here is the first sign popping up: the website of the hotel that will, no doubt, enter the wish list of all global Hilton Honors point accumulators.
When Does The Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island Open.
In this article:
On the website the month of February 2024 is announced as the opening date, although it is specified that at the moment the facility has not yet started accepting reservations, a sign that the expected date is not yet certain, a sign that it is not yet credible however that date comes from Hilton's website and app.
Usually when facilities are coming soon they appear in searches as "cooming soon," not in this case since if you search for accommodations in the Indian Ocean archipelago, neither of the two opening facilities pops up.
Hilton the most present chain in Seychelles
Unlike the Maldives where the competition is very high and hotel chains from all over the world are present en masse and with so many proposals, in the Seychelles there is much less on offer and Hilton with the current 4 facilities, plus the two in opening is by far the most present and which, with the different brands, is able to satisfy all types of travelers.
To date, the new Mango House, which belongs to LXR, Is the most luxurious hotel. It opened in 2021 and has become one of the most popular places for travelers from all over the world. The Doubletree Allamanda is definitely the cheapest option in the area where you can stay by paying cash or with points.
Then there are two facilities under the parent banner namely Hilton Seychelles Northolme and Hilton Seychelles Labriz.
Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island, the features
The resort will offer 59 beachfront villas all with private pools. Guests will have access to six restaurants and bars, a spa, a kids club, an outdoor observatory, tennis courts, and a marine conservation discovery center, all within the Platte Island sanctuary.
The island itself is located just over 130 km south of Mahé and is renowned as a nature lover's paradise, covered by a palm forest and surrounded by a coral reef and lagoon. A small airstrip provides access to the island from Mahé's main airport.
In an effort to create and use renewable energy as part of the resort's operation, many buildings throughout the park will have solar panel roofs. The hotel was built with full respect for the site and building where there were previous constructions, such as cottages and other rural buildings.
How many Hilton Honors points will it cost
Since it is not bookable it is impossible to have certainty, but judging by location and exclusivity I think this WA will be positioned with pricing similar to what is charged for the most expensive property in the Hilton portfolio namely the Waldorf Astoria Maldives.
Of course the Seychelles is a slightly cheaper destination than the Maldives, but here we are talking about a brand new resort built on an island discovered in 1769, just over half a square kilometer in size entirely covered with palm trees and other vegetation.
Therefore, it is logical to expect a Pricing no less than 120/130k Hilton Honors points per night and it is a given as is the case with other top properties there will be very few, and very coveted, rooms that can be booked with points. Obviously as always Gold members can get free breakfast, but then everything else will have to be paid for starting with the flight to/from Mahé, since the runway is only 1km long flights will be operated by small planes as in the Maldives, where however since there is no runway only seaplanes are flown.
