AirJapan is a new Japanese airline, wholly owned subsidiary of All Nippon Airways (ANA) will be a low-cost carrier connecting Tokyo with with several leisure destinations.

What is AirJapan?

In this article:

AirJapan is the third brand in the ANA group between parent airline ANA and low-cost carrier Peach. Although ANA does not use the moniker "low-cost" for AirJapan, for all intents and purposes, it is a low-cost airline for medium-haul routes in Southeast Asia and Oceania.

The carrier will exclusively use Boeing 787-8 aircraft in all-economy configuration with a total of 324 seats. Legroom is generous with 81 cm between rows, an above-average space even for conventional carriers. No screen on the seatback there will be an accessible portal with passengers' devices to enjoy onboard intratrainment. Each seat will have one USB-C and one USB-A port to allow tablets and cell phones to be kept charged.

As with most low-cost airlines, the fare does not include much beyond a guaranteed reservation (and carry-on baggage up to 7 kg ).

"Our hope is that by launching AirJapan, we can showcase the best of Japan from inside the cabin to enhance their journey," said Hideki Mineguchi, President of AirJapan. "We are excited and look forward to welcoming passengers on board to experience the exceptional journey offered by AirJapan."

The airline will begin operations on February 9, 2024, with direct flights between Tokyo's Narita Airport (NRT) and Bangkok, Thailand (BKK).

Prices are extremely competitive, with one-way fares starting at less than $ 110 each way. Obviously it is a no-frills fare, so you have to add all the extras such as choice of seat, checked baggage and lunch. Everything is well explained on the new company's website.
