One of TFC's goals is to help readers in their own journeys, no matter if it is an out-of-town trip, the honeymoon in New Zealand or an on-the-road trip to the USA. We try to teach everyone how to travel better, spending nothing or less and in any case Be prepared to take advantage of all the benefits of each reservation.
Reservation
In this article:
I transited through Reno, the Las Vegas of northern Nevada. just for an overnight stopover and as always in these cases I aimed for a hotel near the airport. Of course being in a small Vegas I could also go to some big hotel with casinos, but I had no time or inclination given the few hours I had.
I booked through the app and did not use the points. The reason is that the Bonvoy program's active promotion gives away double qualifying nights for each paid stay, while award stays only earn base nights depending on the number of nights slept.
The cost was 170$, I could have used 35k Bonvoy points, would have been an average conversion, but the difference was as mentioned the active promotion.
Check-in
I arrived, late, after midnight. I took a cab because the hotel shuttle runs until 00 a.m.. However the facility is close, it takes longer to get out of the airport than it does to get in
Upon arrival paperwork done in less than 30 seconds and and 90 seconds after entering the hotel I was already in my room.
The room
This chain is the little sister of the brand W, one of Marriott's most luxurious. These are two brands devoted to desing, and you can feel it very well as soon as you enter the room. Obviously in Aloft we are a couple of steps below the W.
The room is a small open space, the bathroom is exposed, and there is no real closet, as is the case in all these facilities.
The decor is basic, but you can see that it is all designed to impress and leave that better feeling than a similar structure. A corner sofa under the window, with a small table for working and some very colorful pillows. Queen bed, very comfortable and with a beautiful and very comfortable topper. Megascreen TV ordinance, but as always I go in turn off and sleep.
On the bedside table in addition to the phone a bluetooth speaker from Marshall, a product often found in Marriott rooms and which I have in my bedroom at home.
The bathroom is basic but nice. There is a large walk-in shower, and a separate room for the toilet, no smart toilet seat we are not in Japan.
No useless plastic and all infinitely refillable dispensers, if they keep this up I'm going to have to start buying soap for the bathroom in my house again.
Common spaces
Less than 5 hours after chek-in I was back on the ground floor waiting to take the shuttle to the airport.
The attention to design can be seen here as well. There is a small food area to get food, but the heart is the bar area and with unfailing pool table and lots of different seating. Too bad we did not see Wxyz, the hotel bar, operational. Overall, however, everything is very nice, well-maintained and quality, certainly not a motel6.
The shuttle is free and takes 5 minutes to arrive at the airport, ready to leave for a new trip and a new review for TFC.
In conclusion
Aloft is half a step above Moxy, these two signs are absolutely my first choice when looking for a chain hotel and I don't want to spend more money. Highly recommended.
