There are hotels that you book just for a quick night's sleep and this reservation of ours fell right into that category. We had a need to sleep one night in Jakarta, and we knew that we would be arriving late and leaving early, so Zero pretensions only the search for a not too expensive hotel where to sleep and possibly make points And continue the hunt for status.
Reservation
In this article:
As always when booking a hotel on the hunt for points and benefits you must always book through an official channel (site, app, phone) otherwise you may spend less, but you will not accumulate qualifying points and nights and in 99% of cases you will not even get what is provided by the status held. And if by chance the same room is found for less you can always activate the Best Rate Guarantee.
As an American Express Platinum holder, I could settle for the gold level guaranteed for life, this is definitely the most interesting level among those included in the monthly quota of the credit card, but appetite comes with eating, and when it turns out How you are treated by Diamond you get used to it well.
Check-in
We arrived at the hotel shortly before 11 p.m, the lobby was deserted. After scanning our luggage with X-rays, we took care of the paperwork.
For the first time since I have been Hilton Honors, I happened to. pay for breakfast for my daughter As the room's "third" guest. Because of the status you are entitled to free breakfast for one guest, but never before have I been asked to pay for my daughter (who is now 9 years old). Little bad because The gargantuan buffet cost her about 4€.
The room
I had booked a family room, which was then the largest room among those available. Ours was on the 15th and last floor of the hotel. Of course, being 3 traveling, we brought our own yellow trunk a product of Level8 which is discounted by 10% for readers using "TFC10" as coupon code.
Finishes apart seemed to be in a hotel far superior to a Garden Inn, a Hilton sign designed for travel "on a small budget." The room was huge, In any other hotel it would have been labeled Suite Since it consisted of 3 separate rooms.
A small living room with double sofa, desk, and mega-screen.
A master room with king size bed and direct access to the bathroom, sofa under the huge window, and a second mega-screen.
A second room designed for children with two beds, and a small play area.
Equally large is the bathroom with double sinks, double bathtub and huge walkin shower.
The double surprise
In the room waiting for us a Saucer with some treats, a personalized letter of welcome and a message on the parlor mirror. Utmost attention to the elite guest.
The structure
The hotel looks brand new, everything is immaculate. On the ground floor in addition to the reception desk there is a small pantry, as in almost all hotels in this chain, and a relaxation area.
The main floor is the 5th which houses the hotel restaurant/bar, The one at breakfast in the morning.
Here is also the outdoor swimming pool, beautiful and scenic, you certainly don't come here for the pool, but a dip at the end of the day is always nice.
There is also a micro fitness area, overlooking the pool. Just the bare minimum needed to keep in shape.
Breakfast
Asia never disappoints, but here I was really amazed. Garden Inn is a 3-star chain, so right not to expect a mega buffet like in a Marriott or Hilton.
Nothing could be more wrong. Every time I have breakfast in these hotels, I try to find something I've never seen before, if I recently found the person in charge of the coconuts at Peninsula Manila, here was the chocolate fountain and the "pink corner" dedicated to the fight against breast cancer.
An all-pink menu, from rice to cupcakes to smoothies.
The rest of the offerings are everything one looks for in these facilities: Two express cooking stations one for eggs and one for noodles, and then from sweet to savory, from fruit to local cuisines. There are enough calories to go a week with just one breakfast. To be nitpicky the only thing not top were the fruits that were not fresh, but industrial.
In conclusion
It is 20 minutes from the airport and I have no idea how it is located for visiting Indonesia's capital. It is, however, close to the highway and some busy streets so it is easy to get around; it is located above a shopping mall with all Western brands including Starbucks and Burger King. Highly recommended.
