The most interesting lounges at London LHR are those in terminal 3: centurion is for all Platinum cardholders One of the best independent lounges in the world, Virgin Atlantic's clubhouse is on the contrary the most difficult one to visit, but by far one of the most beautiful in the world.
In this article:
However, if you have Gold Star Alliance status and/or travel in business with one of the companies in this alliance, T2 is heaven.
LHR Terminal 2
Sooner or later this will be the terminal of choice for Italian passengers, when ITA moves from Skyteam to the same alliance as LH as is logical to expect all flights will move from T4, where AZ flies today at T2. And things for all premium card holders, or above, will change overnight.
Here are the Lufthansa lounge., in the main body of the terminal, The Plaza Premium awarded in 2022 as the best independent lounge the world, and then in the satellite are the Air Canada and Singapore lounges, if you have a lot of time to waste at the airport a walk around these parts definitely gives a better experience than the, albeit excellent, Lufthansa lounge.
Location
As mentioned, we are in the T2 satellite, in the gate area beyond #31, is a walk of about ten minutes, which in the opposite direction doubles as there are no travel aids.
As soon as you come up to the store floor, you meet the elevator that takes you to the upper floor that houses the two lounges. Singapore's and Air Canada's Maple Leaf.
Interestingly enough. SQ puts its hands up, probably to prevent LHR/MUC passengers from coming all the way here rather than going to the official Lufthansa lounge.
Access
Unlike the first class lounge, here you can also enter with an ultra basic economy ticket from Lot, Aegean or any SA carrier, the important thing is to have a Gold Star Alliance card in one of the alliance's various loyalty programs.
Alternatively, you enter with a business class ticket, SQ or other partner carrier.
The lounge
The lounge surrounds the small first-class lounge, and has the same style of decor and elements, only here the space is adequate for the capacity of the A380s that SQ uses in abundance at London Heathrow.
A long corridor leads to the buffet area; the offerings are superior to any European carrier's lounge, by detachment.
Then there is the bar area, with a counter with a bartender manning the station and plenty of seating, though not a lot of it. The most beautiful area is definitely the glass windows overlooking the runway, while the ideal area for quiet work are the cubicles that offer a small table, power outlets and comfortable seating; thanks to the high walls, you also remain fairly isolated from the rest of the room.
Food & Beverage
I have to give kudos to SQ the quality of the culinary offerings is superior to many other lounges, even other Singapore lounges I have seen around the world. There is so much choice both menu-wise and in terms of drinks and wine list. There is even ice cream.
In conclusion
Sure it is far from the gates of European flights, but an attempt to make a jump up to here is feasible, especially if you have a lot of time to spend waiting for your flight.
