Update 2024. Hilton has included several new facilities in the city between late 2023 and early this year. These are not new facilities, but rebranding of already active hotels. Sooner or later I will visit these as well, although they do not seem as good as the ones I have already reviewed.
As is well known, I am a loyal customer Hilton, admittedly for the past couple of years I have discovered Marriott Bonvoy pampering and as is evident from the pages of TFC I ping pong between these two chains with, fleeting, appearances in other signs. Bangkok is a city that I love, and since it is also the destination of thousands of Italians who visit the Thailand I decided to visit as many hotels as possible so as to help in choosing the perfect hotel to stay in the Kingdom's capital.
A small premise
In this article:
In Thailand you can sleep, well, even spending 5/10 euros per night, however, if the "backpacking" phase of your life is over and you are now more in the "I want to travel comfortable" mode then these hotels are perfect because they offer:
- International standard
- Accumulation/use of points
- Loyalty-related benefits
- Bed and quality services
As is well known all my reviews are the result of paid stay. I am not sponsored by anyone and what I write corresponds to how I was treated during my stay as a regular customer, not as a journalist, blogger or influencer since I never give notice of my arrival.
Hilton Hotels in Bangkok
At this time, November 2023, there are 6 Hilton family facilities in the city, they are:
There would also be a Conrad Residence, but that's not in my wheelhouse; when I travel I don't want to have to wash dishes. As you can see there are two hotels per category: Luxury, upscale and budget.
The best Hilton hotel in Bangkok
Obviously the most logical answer should be WA, a brand that means luxury and exclusivity, but making an overall assessment that also takes into account the cost of the room, benefits and optional extras I have to say it is the Millennium Hilton What I would award as the best Hilton in town.
Both facilities have a scenic rooftop, swimming pool with a view, and enjoy a lovely location. The Millennium however, although older, offers a lounge that WA does not, has a beautiful view of the river is within walking distance of the city's largest shopping center, including a line from BTS, and not to be underestimated it costs significantly less, both in points and cash, than WA.
And it is close to the area of Khao San where you can eat, shop or have fun among many locals (and just as many tourists) until late at night.
The worst Hilton hotel in Bangkok
There is no worst, partly because they are all extremely different from each other in price, location, style and mood. None of these hotels has a poor rating, there is only one 7 and the others took between 8 and 8.5.
Bangkok's best Hilton hotel for families
A family has different needs compared to others, and since I travel often with my daughter, I have to say that I am well aware of what she is looking for to have fun and what I am looking for.
The choice I would make for a family is probably the Conrad for three reasons: it is (probably) the hotel with the largest pools in all of Bangkok, it has a playground and a nice indoor park where you can wander around carefree, it is close enough to everything and is far enough away from the hustle and bustle, and it offers the shuttle bus to travel to Sukhumvit Road and from there you can move wherever you want.
The best hotel for couples in Bangkok
About this I have no doubt the Waldorf Astoria is a perfect alcove for those who want to pamper, savor and recharge in this city.
There is a spa, two rooftop restaurants, and there is an all-around manic attention to the guest. This hotel also participates in the Fine Hotels + Resorts by American Express and it means having the opportunity to have many benefits, including credit to spend in hotels, accumulate points and a VIP treatment even without status.
The best hotel for those who want to have fun in Bangkok
You can go to Bangkok for so many reasons, nightlife is undoubtedly one of them. From pool parties at hotels to the many night markets, Muay Thai schools and clubs to Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy. No matter if you are a company of friends, a bachelorette party or post-graduation trip this city is always welcoming.
My choice in this case is the Doubletree Ploenchit, the cheapest hotel of all, best located, and has breakfast served from 6 until 11, which is critical for those who want to experience the night and want to eat before going to sleep, or have time to sleep 30 minutes longer than all the other hotels. The pool is small, the gym too, but it is on Sukhumvit Road 4 minutes from Nana Plaza, 3 minutes from BTS, and in the midst of the capital's nightlife, clubs, and malls.
In conclusion
There are six Hilton hotels in Bangkok, the price is on average lower than hotels of the same category in the rest of the world, sure they are more expensive than a lot of other hotels in the city, but the quality and brand guarantee is paid for everywhere. With this article I have explained my personal ranking by also skewering why the choices. Since the prices are so low I recommend not "wasting" points to book at these facilities.
