Perhaps you never knew, however, that there is also The Ritz Carlton Reserve, a very small collection of only 7 hotels, although a new one is coming soon, that are even more exclusive and are considerably more luxurious than the traditional RCs.
Ritz Carlton Reserve, the essential info
They are small and luxurious hotels, to date there are only 6: 4 in Asia and two in the Caribbean. Ritz-Carlton Reserve is a small collection of intimate luxury resorts that Marriott describes as follows:
Rare estates, isolated from the world, where sincere care is felt in every corner. Time stands still as the joy of discovery is anticipated, embraced and savored. The exploration of an unusual place, the thrill of an unexpected adventure, the indulgence in uncommon luxury. This is the Ritz-Carlton Reserve, a rare place reserved for those who appreciate an exotic sanctuary tucked away in the most exquisite corners of the world. Explore the Ritz-Carlton Reserve.

The iconic Ritz Carlton in New York City.
They are small hotels with, at most, a little more than 100 rooms; they are not concrete barracks in the middle of concrete, let's say that except for the name they have nothing to do with the other hotels.
Where are the Ritz Carlton Reserve
One could compare the two facilities as flying on an A380 or a private jet, as taking a cruise on the world's largest ship or a small three-masted sailing ship from the late 1800s. However, one should not think that they are in remote or isolated places, they are unique but in very very popular locations, they are at:
- Bali, Indonesia. The Mandapa
- Dorado, Puerto Rico. Dorado Beach
- Niseko, Japan. Higashiyama
- Los Cabos, Mexico. Zadun
- Sichuan, China. Rissai Valley
- Krabi, Thailand. Phulay Bay
- Nujuma, Red Sea, Saudi Arabia (the newest of the RCR facilities).
Then there are more openings to come, by the end of the year the first one should open Ritz Carlton Reserve Middle East. The announcement came directly from Marriott International, which signed an agreement with The Red Sea Development Company for the launch of the prestigious brand in the region. The facility, surrounded by nature, will be named the Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve and will rise in a series of private islands near the Red Sea's Blue Hole.
I am Marriott at 100%
When this sign debuted it was not fully integrated into the Bonvoy world, something similar to what happens with Bvlgari hotels around the world. Hotels also sold through the Marriott app and site, but Bonvoy members cannot use the points to book or take advantage of the various benefits provided with the status.
The rules, for RC Reserves, changed last year. and now Ritz-Carlton Reserve properties are participating in Marriott Bonvoy, this means that stays are eligible to accumulate points and most importantly you can finally use the points to stay at these properties.
You also get some bonuses depending on the status you hold; there is no chance to have breakfast even with the highest statuses, but it is likely given the price of rooms in these facilities that it is already included in the room.
In conclusion
I just stayed at Mandapa in Ubud., as if to say that in one of the most beautiful places in the world you create one of the best hotels in the world. I am looking forward to visiting the others, the next one will be Krabi. I am already saving up points for my next vacation.
