I just transited through the new, fantastic, airport in Abu Dhabi. Although technically the airport is not new, but the terminal is new, but since all travel will go through here it is as if the airport is new.
In this article:
The thing that impressed me the most, besides the size that doesn't matter here since they have infinite space, Is that it is finally a structure with an architecture unlike any other. Then like all modern airports we are talking about a large shopping mall, with an equally immense food court, but together with Istanbul they are two fantastic architectural projects, but this one is much more beautiful and original.
Moving completed
A total of 28 international airlines Are now fully operational from Terminal A, the new facility at Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH). All airlines operating from Abu Dhabi International Airport have now moved to Terminal A, marking a significant increase in the capacity of the new terminal.
Terminal A is now the main terminal serving Abu Dhabi International Airport, with flights arriving and departing from the emirate, which will use the available state-of-the-art facilities. The successful transition to Terminal A will facilitate a significant increase in air capacity in Abu Dhabi, with The terminal capable of accommodating up to 45 million travelers a year and to handle 79 aircraft simultaneously.
Terminal A will enhance the passenger experience by providing seamless connectivity. Key facilities available at Terminal A include biometric technology to simplify the screening and boarding process and 35,000 square meters of commercial and catering space.
Elena Sorlini, managing director and interim CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, said, "With all airlines now operating from Terminal A, I am pleased to announce a new era for operations at Abu Dhabi International Airport. By bringing new state-of-the-art facilities and a significant increase in airline capacity, Terminal A will greatly enhance the passenger experience while enabling international airlines to further increase their presence in Abu Dhabi."
Two lounges for all passengers
There are two lounges available to passengers, or perhaps it would be better to say three. Etihad has an entire wing of the terminal available. The lounge is spread over three floors. It is something really huge, but I was not blown away by it. Then there is an independent lounge that is accessible with Priority pass that I will visit in the next few days.
In conclusion
Direct flights from Italy are currently operated by Etihad, which flies from Milan and Rome, and Wizz Air, which connects Bari, Catania, and Naples with this airport. Also due to arrive in these parts soon are ITA Airways' A321, we'll see when. at the moment the Emirates are off AZ routes, but it is not certain that there will not be surprises during 2024.
