How I used the points I bought to save over 5,000
I had been wanting to book a stay at the Waldorf Astoria in Amsterdam for years., one of the hotels considered most beautiful and exclusive not only in the Hilton portfolio, but in the world. The problem is that it is one of the most expensive facilities and where you can hardly sleep for less than 1000€ per night.
At the end of May we will go with Marika for a few days to the Dutch capital, as you can see the price was out of all logic, but the desire to try this facility was and is very high, even More than when we flew to the Maldives (again using points).. The price per night, excluding taxes, for the period we were interested in was €1,235 to which we added over €150 in taxes for a total over the 5 days of just under €7,000.
Fortunately there was still a standard room available and so I booked at a cost of 110k points per night, or 440k for the 5 nights. All inclusive and with the 5th night free, as per the benefit offered to all Hilton Honors award reservations. Considering that a pile of points was already in my pocket. I bought the maximum points, 160k, and got as many points for free and immediately booked the room with a savings of well over 5k euros. At the end of the day we will sleep in a 5-star hotel, one of the best in Europe at just over €300 per night.
