Flying Blue announced minor changes to benefits for Ultimate status holders, or the highest level in the Franco-Dutch loyalty program.
How to get the Ultimate level
In this article:
The Ultimate level, is the Flying Blue program's answer to what in Miles & More is called the HON Circle and in the British Airways executive club is the Concorde Room. Those with this status are not only Very Frequent Flyers, but more importantly they fly a lot on Air France KLM.
To be eligible for the Ultimate card, one must first become Platinum, once you reach the highest milestone in the loyalty program you unlock the collection of UXP points. You need 900 UXP points over the 12-month qualifying period to gain status for 12 months. Until last year, the level was biennial, as was the qualifying period, and the number of UXPs required was 1800 points.
The difference between XP and UXP is that the former are accumulated by flying with all Skyteam carriers, while the latter are obtained only for routes operated on "iron" Air France KLM. In this case, the rules are similar to those of Miles & More, which recognizes HON Circle points only with group airline flights, although Air France KLM recognizes UXP on any route/cabin, while LH counts only business or first flights.
The new benefits
In this case, we are not talking about a reduction in benefits, but an increase in the benefits that those with this level can obtain in exchange for their loyalty.
- Increase the amount of FB points that you accumulate with tickets, for every euro spent with Air France and KLM you will get 9 points instead of 8 as before
- Free Wi-Fi starting in April 2024, with the launch of a new AF and KL on-board Wi-Fi portal.
- All the fees for offline services are reset to zero When members make an offline reservation with their Miles
- Deleted penalties Of cancellation/modification of award tickets
In conclusion
Of course there is still no HON Circle member limousine and no access to the La Premiere lounge, but everything else brings the Ultimate level closer and closer to what Lufthansa offers and (almost) on par with British Airways, but that is only fair since we are talking about a very small circle in the world of frequent flyers.
