Those who read TFC often know very well that I love Moxy hotels and that I love Bangkok, e now that the first hotel in this chain has opened in the Kingdom of Thailand I can only put it in my sights On my next visit to the city.
Moxy, the sign designed for young people
In this article:
Hotel chains are very attentive to new trends and especially to the moves of competitors. The story of the birth of the Moxy is just such a classic example.. It was born as a brand to compete with Aloft, when Starwood was a competitor of Marriott, whereas today they are all in the same group.
Young people liked this new formula, and so the marketing of the World's largest hotel chain in the world launched Moxy, needless to say a couple of years later Hilton did the same thing with his Mottos starting to be all over the world.
Moxy Bangkok Ratchaprasong
My mission of Reviewing all the Marriott hotels in Bangkok is becoming increasingly complex, as new openings or sign changes follow one another relentlessly.
Today I am talking about the newest of openings viz. the first Moxy of the Thailand, the Moxy Bangkok Ratchaprasong. The location is ideal for first-time visitors to the city, located in the middle of two immense shopping malls (Central and Siam Paragon), less than 5 minutes from the BTS Chit Lom stop, from here one can move quickly to the "hot" spots that all tourists in the city must visit.
"The opening of Moxy Bangkok Ratchaprasong brings Moxy's fun style of hospitality to Bangkok, one of the most fun cities in the world," said Matthew Boettcher, Vice President of Distinctive Select Brand Portfolio, Marriott International. "The attraction of the Moxy brand is its ability to create a playful experience inspired by the surrounding city, and Bangkok is perfect for our brand's entry into the country."
The trademark of the Moxy is the reception desk incorporated into the bar counter, which in this hotel is on the 9th floor, the design is in line with many hotels in this chain. Large drawings on the walls, industrial inspiration for the decor. Walls covered with graffiti depicting "yaks"-giant figures often depicted in Thai Mythology.
Moxy's focus is on common spaces, and this new Bangkok hotel is no different from any other. The rooms are moderately small, although options always include family rooms created especially for those traveling in groups.
The Library & Plug-In area invites guests to sit, relax and work on their laptops or play billiards in the common room.
Whether traveling alone or with friends, this space is the place where fun hunters meet, share stories and exchange experiences, while the bright Moxy Bar & Restaurant extends outdoors with views of the Bangkok skyline. Soon to open is the hotel's stylish rooftop bar ideal for a sunset cocktail.
Interesting opening promotions
Until May 12, all guests will be able to get bonus points every night, in addition to the24-hour room use, all guests in the more than 500 rooms will be given the opportunity to manage their stay with a benefit typically reserved for Bonvoy Ambassadors, namely being able to manage check-in/out times as they wish.
For example, if you arrive at 9 p.m., you will be able to check out at 9 p.m. on the day of your departure, thus having a full 24h to experience at 100% what this Moxy has to offer.
The promotion that gives away points is just as generous and is obviously in addition to the other promotions in place:
- 1,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points per night by booking our Moxy Queen or Moxy Twin
- 3,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points per night by booking our Moxy Corner or Moxy Loft.
- 5,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points per night by booking our Moxy Deluxe
In conclusion
Of course the prices are not exactly Moxy-like, especially since theAloft not far away costs significantly less and also offers a nice rooftop pool. It is a brand-new hotel, though, and this also affects the price. Once the novelty passes, it will definitely be a "low-cost" alternative to consider carefully for Bangkok vacations.
