Almost 2 years have passed since that announcement, and now finally comes the confirmation everyone has been waiting for, in an interview with Executive Traveller, the CEO of oneworld has now revealed that Oman Air's accession timeline will fall in the second half of 2024.
Singular is the fact that of all the carriers in the Middle East region only two are participating in an alliance, Qatar and Oman Air, and both will be members of the same partnership. Emirates and Etihad in contrast continue on their lonely path, while it is still unclear what Ryhad Air the new airline of Saudi Arabia will do.
Not only the product of Oman Air has nothing inferior to what the area's most emblazoned carriers offer, but Oman is a true nation, with a much older history and culture than what destinations such as the UAE or Qatar can offer.
As for when that will happen, "I expect that in the second half of this year we will have an official Oman Air membership...we are a little too far from determining the exact date, but it will be somewhere in the second half of 2024."
