Everything is ready for the opening of Salerno's new airport, scheduled for July 11. An important date for the whole region. Italy is the second largest market for Volotea and in 2024, the company will increase its capacity by 16%, offering, in the country, 4.5 million seats, activating new routes, but also opening its eighth Italian base in Bari.
Already present in Naples since 2013, the company confirms the strategic importance of Campania in its development plans, supporting the local economy by increasing the flow of incoming tourists: thanks to the connections to Cagliari, Nantes, Catania and Verona, the carrier shortens the distance between one of the most desirable and iconic coastlines and the rest of Europe.
It starts with Nantes, available from July 11, and Cagliari, available from July 13, both with twice-weekly frequency, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Starting September 2, however, and throughout the winter period, connections to Catania and Verona will also be available, with two frequencies per week, on Mondays and Fridays.
"We are very proud to be the first to announce the start of our operations at the Salerno-Costa D'Amalfi airport. - said Carlos Muñoz, President and Founder of Volotea -. The start of operations from the Salerno airport represents an important moment for the Region and for Volotea, and will allow us to further expand our offer in the area. In fact, to the 23 connections already available from Capodichino, from today we are able to offer 4 new routes from Salerno, which will allow the many Italian and European tourists to discover the enchanting Amalfi Coast but not only. This announcement again reaffirms the importance of Campania in our future growth plans."
"The start of flights at Salerno Costa D'Amalfi Airport on the indicated timeframe is the result of great strategic, infrastructural and commercial work. In fact, the agreement with Volotea, our partner since 2013, represents an extraordinary flywheel for the development of tourism in our region, both for incoming and outgoing tourist flows. The recognition and appreciation of the Spanish airline, in Italy and abroad, represent a significant plus to increase the volume of passengers in Salerno, as well as the articulated flight offer that sees domestic connections to the islands and the foreign route to Nantes, Volotea's main base and wonderful city of art on the Loire River."- Roberto Barbieri, CEO of GESAC, commented.
