Lorenzo Lagorio, country manager of easyJet Italy, commented:Â
"We have always believed in Naples and Campania, as evidenced by new routes, continued growth and investments in recent years, including the addition to our Naples-based fleet of two Airbus A320 NEOs, next-generation airplanes thanks to which we have reduced emissions and noise impact. Now we are really excited to announce that this summer we will also start operating at the Salerno - Amalfi Coast airport. This step reinforces our historic collaboration with GESAC, with whom we have been working for almost twenty-five years with the aim of connecting Campania with the main destinations in Italy and Europe ever better, supporting the development of tourism and the economy of the area."Â
Roberto Barbieri, GESAC CEO, commented:Â
"The easyJet announcement is the result of intense teamwork aimed at offering a range of destinations capable of satisfying the mobility needs of both citizens and the many tourists wishing to visit an area rich in history and culture. Thanks to the completion of Phase 1 of the Development Plan on the one hand, and the consolidated relationships with airlines on the other, we are finally opening Campania's second airport on schedule and with a stable, quality flight offer that is destined to grow. But the work continues with the second phase of the Development Plan, which includes, among other investments, the further lengthening of the runway to 2,200 meters and the construction of the new Passenger Terminal, scheduled for 2026. The new air terminal, of about 16 thousand square meters, will reflect the highest environmental standards both in terms of energy efficiency and the use of natural and sustainable materials, with architectural choices based on respect for the environment, integration with the territory and connection with the landscape."
