Plaza Premium is a network that operates dozens of lounges around the world, two of which are in Fiumicino. I must say. I am rarely disappointed by a lounge of this brand.
In this article:
So from memory I only remember one bad experience in Jeddah, but in that case it was the comparison with the competition that also made so much difference. I have to say. I absolutely did not expect such a product in an airport such as that of Phnom Phen.
Location
The lounge is located in the international part of the airport of the capital of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
You have to get almost to the end of the terminal, past the Starbucks you go up the escalator and get to the entrance of theonly VIP lounge in the airport. There used to be one from Bangkok Airways, but it has been tarnished and the logos covered or removed.
Access
Plaza Premium is an international and independent network. In order to enter this lounge you can show an American Express Platinum or Priority Pass, or, as in my case, hand over the invitation received at check-in.
I was traveling in economy with Singapore Airlines, But thanks to the status I got free access by handing in the voucher at the recepetion.
The lounge
The room is large and considering the airport is really quality. It's a big terrace that overlooks the terminal on one side and the outside of the facility on the other.
It is not very bright, because the ceiling is not very high and the outside light is shielded for obvious reasons by the air terminal structure. There is plenty of seating, of different types. From sofas to booths to work in, from restaurant tables to a beautiful bar counter.
I placed myself inside one of the pits to work in peace.
Toilets and showers available, free of charge, for all travelers. In short, there is everything you would expect from a lounge, but also something more than the basic product.
Food & Beverage
There is a beautiful bar counter manned by a couple of attendants ready to serve hot drinks or a cocktail depending on the passenger's time zone.
Behind the bar is the lounge dining area. A real surprise, a small self-service restaurant with a very varied offering, even though I visited the lounge early in the morning.
Overall, I got the impression of a quality product.
Services
There is a small spa in the lounge. One can request (for a fee) treatments. The classic foot massage and more, with expensive prices, but not by European standards.
Then there is a small VIP Room, but I have no idea about the rules of access or use.
In conclusion
Plaza Premium never (almost) disappoints, even here in Cambodia it was a great way to wait for the plane in a clean, comfortable place. Being able to take advantage of unlimited free access, even with a companion, simply by showing my Amex Platinum is one of the benefits that allows me to amortize the monthly fee of the card.
