Week after week Flying, the loyalty program of ITA Airways, grows and as of today puts a key new feature on the record: the family program.
In this article:
This is a feature that not all loyalty programs have, and so this is an advantage that ITA puts at the service of its loyal customers, but let's see in detail how it works.
Flying Adventure
This is the name chosen for the cards of minors enrolled in ITA Airways' loyalty program, enrollment is free of charge and can be taken from age 2 and will be valid until age 16, this is because already anyone over the age of 16 can enroll in the adult program.
Registration, of course since they are minors, must be done by a parent and will allow young adventurers to obtain, as with adults, a status depending on the routes flown. ITA has come up with 4 ad hoc statuses tracing those of adults, but with tiles specifically designed for the adventure program.
The statuses of Flying Adventure
Name and thresholds are the same as those of adults, as is the case with other programs such as Air France KLM's Flying Blue, what ITA did differently was to design a completely different card than that of adults.
Club Smart:
- - access with enrollment in the Flying ADVENTURE Program and accumulation of Points for each expense related to goods/services offered by ITA;
- Access to a wide network of business partnerships for crediting and using Points;
- Purchase of ancillary services through Points.
Club Plus (Access and retention threshold: 30,000 PQ)
- extra baggage;
- Priority baggage redelivery;
- priority boarding;
- Priority access for check-in and transfer desk;
- Priority access to the lost and found service; -
- celta of the free seat in the area of the aircraft reserved for the Club to which the Member belongs;
- Dedicated customer service.
Premium Club (threshold for entry and retention: 60,000 Qualifying Points):
- lounge access owned or available to ITA Airways
- Fast track
Executive Club (Access and retention threshold: 90,000 FP):
- Welcome kit.
- Ability to gift status to a user;
- Free transportation of golf equipment.
I have no idea how popular golf equipment is among minors, but the idea of having a dedicated welcome kit for the kids is really nice, then note that on balance the cards have the exact same privileges and benefits as adults, without any exclusions.
The "Flying Family" is born.
At the same time cards for minors will accumulate points with each flight, even when they fly as unaccompanied minors, there is the possibility of creating a family. It is not mileage pooling as is done, for example in the British Airways executive club, but on balance it is something very similar.
Minors enrolled in the Volare Adventure Program may be added by the parent/parental responsibility holder enrolled in the Volare Program "to the Family" through the personal area. The main function of the family is to allow an exchange of Volare points (non-qualifying) between members added to the family.
This means that the parent will not be able to add his or her qualifying points to obtain status together with those of the children
The parent/parental responsibility holder who invited the child via "Create Your Family" box in Personal Area, can Invite up to 6 minors and up to + 1 adult than self.
This is a solution similar to the Flying Blue Family which admits two adults in addition to 7 minors.
- The family may consist of a minimum of: 1 adult and 1 minor enrolled in Volare
- The family may consist of up to: 2 adults and 6 minors enrolled in Volare
The user who created the family is the only one who can manage the family, that is, he is the only one who can:
- Adding members to the Family;
- Remove members from the Family;
- Erasing the Family.
In addition to these three actions, the parent who created the family can proceed via the dedicated box in personal area to transfer points with the family (Transfer up to 100k Flying NQ points per year with other family members).
Other family members can carry out the following activities:
- Abandoning the Family
- Transfer up to 100k Flying NQ points per year with other family members
In conclusion
From today, therefore, all children will be able to accumulate Volare points, qualifying and non-qualifying, like adults, and if they are true frequent flyers they will also be able to obtain status like adults.
The main benefit of the family will be to be able to transfer, free of charge, 100k points between group members. Points that are extra to the normal point transfer limit between non-family members.
