If after 15 hours of flying, as you are finally up and waiting for the green light to disembark from the plane, you witness such a scene you might safely mind your own business and pretend nothing happened, but in such cases I just can't. I can't stand the rudeness of people.

In this article:

I have compiled the list of types of the passengers I don't tolerate when I'm traveling and, in recent days I found myself arguing with a list representative.

    The facts

We were just landed in Singapore, after a 15-hour flight and a 90-minute delay. When I turn around and see a female passenger quietly sitting on the armrest of the seat with her feet above the seat.

It immediately came to my mind The ubiquitous sticker in bathrooms throughout Asia., and more, explaining to the natives how to sit on the vater. Evidently populations raised without a bidet also have an aversion to the toilet seat.

Here the passenger was (almost) in the same position.

While all the rest of the passengers were intent on emptying the hat racks the girl (with a distinctly Aussie accent) was busy catching up on the hours of forced disconnection on her cell phone.

I thus allowed myself to say, "Sorry, I might be the next passenger to sit in that seat."

She looked away from her cell phone, stared at me, and replied in annoyance "But what do you want, it's not like you're my father. Mind your own fucking business, I've been sitting for 15 hours."

Probably due to post-flight fatigue, instead of responding in kind by bringing out the Minkiaziophah that lurks in each of us, I simply told her, "Then get up and walk."

    In conclusion

What bothers me is that we passengers. we are the first to complain about the conditions in which we find the plane, but the last to be self-critical about our behaviors. Of course it is easier to turn away or hope that others will point it out for us, but I ultimately believe that with a greater sense of civic duty and mutual respect, we would all live in a better world.

Ah for the record the maiden, or sphinx, retorted, " Even my father doesn't tell me what to do anymore, he just looks the other way and mind your onw business.."
