Jason McGuinness, Ryanair's Chief Commercial Officer, said:
"As the No. 1 airline in Italy and Puglia, Ryanair is pleased to announce record operations to Puglia for summer'24 with more than 800 weekly flights on 80 routes, including 10 exciting new destinations for the summer to Athens, Barcelona (G), Dubrovnik, Gdansk, Malaga, Katowice, Rhodes, Tirana, Toulouse and Trieste, offering Puglia's citizens/visitors even more summer vacation choices at Europe's lowest fares. To support this record operating, Ryanair will base five aircraft ($500 million invested) and support more than 3,400 jobs (including well-paid positions for pilots, cabin crew and engineers) in the region. Ryanair is also celebrating 20 years of operations in Puglia, where it remains the fastest growing airline, growing from 0.2 million pax since the start of operations to more than 4.3 million pax carried this summer. Ryanair congratulates the Mayor of Brindisi for his vision and approach in supporting tourism growth by improving connectivity and, in turn, lowering fares for citizens and visitors to the region Puglia by stopping the increase in the municipal surtax/tourist tax. However, there is an opportunity for Puglia to secure accelerated growth in passenger numbers and tourism in the coming years, provided that the Puglia Region and the Italian government abolish the excessive municipal surtax. Should the Italian government abolish the municipal surtax, Ryanair will respond with a $4 billion investment in Italy, adding 40 new aircraft, an additional 20 million passengers a year, and more than 250 new routes. To celebrate its record S24 operating to Puglia, Ryanair has launched a promotion valid for 3 days with fares starting at €21.99, available only at ryanair.com.
The president of Aeroporti di Puglia, Antonio Maria Vasile, said:
"Ryanair is a strategic business partner for the development of air connectivity d/for Puglia. The exceptional goals achieved in these twenty years in terms of passengers carried and destinations connected seal a partnership that, we are sure, can only lead to new exciting successes already starting from the upcoming summer season that promises to be full of interesting news. I would like to underline the communion of intentions that has characterized this collaboration and that has seen us as protagonists with the Apulia Region and the Local Administrations that have shared with us the strategic vision and the importance of consolidating and developing the presence on our airports of Ryanair, as an extraordinary growth flywheel for our economy and our communities. We look forward with great confidence to what positive things can come out of a business partnership with solid roots in the future."
Again, Ryanair - to celebrate the new summer operations at Puglia's airports - launched a promotion valid until March 9: rates will start at a price of €21.99 and will be available only on the company's website.
