Just a few days ago we wrote about the European airlines with the highest percentages of delays and cancellations during 2023; today, however, for the sake of truth and duty of record, we also find out the top 10 carriers that can boast the least amount of disruption, based on the data compiled by BestBrokers related to 2023.Â
In this article:
Let's start from the podium.Â
Gold medal for Germany's Eurowings That compared with more than 150,000 flights, recorded only 7% between flights that took off late and cancelled departures: between the two entries, the one with the highest percentage is related to delays, amounting to 5.25%.
Thus, 92.95% of the flights operated by Eurowings arrived on time: The airline (part of the Lufthansa Group) has improved its service in no small part over the years, both in terms of punctuality and in terms of efficiency and overall passenger experience.
Second place on the podium for Belgian airline TUI fly Belgium.: Of 23728 flights, 0.98% of these were canceled and 11.51% departed late (i.e., 15 minutes after the scheduled time); aggregating the two entries shows that 12.50% of the flights operated by the Belgian carrier in 2023 either departed late or were canceled.
Rounding out the podium of the top 10 European carriers is Iberia. Last year, Spain's flag carrier carried out well 212877 flights, of which only 0.02 were canceled, while 15.16% departed late; in total, between cancelled departures and delays, Iberia ended 2023 with a total of 15.19% of disruptions.
The Norwegian carrier Widerøe, instead, takes 4th place with a gap of not even one percentage point from Spain's Iberia: Widerøe, during the year 2023, made almost 120000 flights, 3.61% of which were cancelled and 12.15% arrived late.
