Hong Kong is a Mr. Airport, not only because it was built on an artificial island, but because there are some of the most beautiful lounges in the world. And as Cathay Pacific has more and more direct flights from Italy. toward the former British protectorate is a good excuse to visit this lounge.
In this article:
I have already reviewed what is considered one of the best first-class waiting rooms (AKA The Pier) , but what many people ignore is that The Wing, on the opposite side of the airport in some ways is even better.
Location & access
We are located in the Gate 1 area, here there is a double lounge for passengers of Cathay Pacific: one part is dedicated to those traveling in business class, while the other renamed The Wing is dedicated exclusively to those traveling in First with CX and all oneworld companies, but also to all Emerald status holders.
The hall is located on the floor above the gates.
The lounge
If The Pier is all crammed into a small room, aided by the fact that it is on a lower floor than the gates, here we are at full height.
The environment is lit by natural light coming in through the huge windows overlooking the runway.
The Wing is divided into a number of different environments, the special feature here, too, is the complete difference from the more emblazoned lounge. Here, there are no walls or ceilings, only small streetcars that divide the rooms.
In the first part is The Atrium, a very long counter with the buffet, the room here is set up for guests to eat comfortably on classic trendy bar seating.
Immediately after that we have the Champagne Bar, the decor also changes with comfortable armchairs to sink into taking the place of restaurant seating.
The decor here is that of a trendy club, with circular sofas and leather armchairs.
Last, but not least. There is the more elegant lounge area. Here there are Frau leather sofas, a really elegant environment where you can have a business meeting without disfiguring.
The Cabanas
The corridor leading to the showers and cabanas is black marble with light effects and is a prelude to what you will find once you turn the corner. What makes this lounge special is something you can't see And that you have to look carefully in one of the corridors. The cabanas.
They are bathroom rooms, the size of studio apartments Milan.
There is an immense bathtub, or shower renamed Rainshower. A one-of-a-kind in the world, uniquely offered by Cathay for the most important passengers.
The Haven
Finally, there is The Haven. If "at the pier" is a restaurant that prepares mainly Western dishes, and where I had a super Hamburger, here is a restaurant of local cuisine. Run by a well-known Hong Kong star chef.
The ambience is that of a modern fusion venue, the same as could be found in Kowloon.
Of course, I, being the good forkful that I am, did not back down and tasted three dishes branded as "suggested by the chef."
In conclusion
What can I say these are the cuddles that drive me to Trying to renew British Airways' Gold level.. Sure means flying a lot with BA and other group carriers, but ultimately the reward is in these experiences that would otherwise be inaccessible.
The Pier is more elegant, and being "indoors" seems more exclusive, while here you are outdoors. They are, however, two lounges of the highest standard.
