Last spring he inaugurated the new Hangar Lounge at Fiumicino Terminal 1, at the ribbon cutting, however, it was not complete at 100%, Still missing was the completion of the VIP Room, that is, an exclusive space where a narrow niche of passengers can enter.
Where the VIP Room is located
In this article:
The hall is hidden from the eyes of patrons, the door is in fact concealed behind a bulkhead to the right of the reception desk, and to gain access you must get the go-ahead from the receptionists.
Air France in its lounge at terminal 2F in Paris also has something similar, here, however, you even have to know a combination that changes every week in order to open the door.
Who can access the VIP room
The room is exclusively reserved for Executive card holders, the highest level in the loyalty program of ITA Airways.
There is also the possibility of accommodating up to six already eligible passengers (Business Class, Executive members, Premium Volare, and Elite Plus Skyteam members), this means that for example you will be able to "bring" guests already in the lounge inside the vip room, but not guests from outside, also because each Executive member has the ability to bring one guest into the lounge for free.
What the VIP Room offers
It is a space isolated from the lounge, which can be particularly crowded at certain times of the day. Here Executive members can isolate themselves from the rest of the guests and relax in a decidedly more peaceful and elegant environment.
It actually looks like a design hotel lounge, there is a nice corner sofa, also comfortable not only nice.
A meeting table with a mega-screen where you can also make business appointments while taking advantage of being isolated from prying eyes.
A bathroom, with shower, is also available, again so that you do not have to "mix" with other guests and can enjoy more privacy.
To be perfect ITA should implement table service, perhaps via QR as was fashionable in many lounges during covid, that way one could order while standing in the lounge and not have to go to the buffet area in person.
In conclusion
It is definitely an interesting little addition to the "basic" lounge, the collected but refined design environment makes it the right complement to the beautiful Hangar lounge. It is a good motivation to strive for the highest level of the Volare card.
