Lufthansa Allegris, brief recap
Currently, this solution is present only on A350s and only departing from Munich. As I had experienced of personal last summer, we are talking about the new standard in all classes: from economy to first class.
There is only one small problem, at the moment the first class has not yet been installed and instead of new suites there are armchairs as a hole stop, a very un-WOW thing. In addition to this Allegris will not come on A380s and probably not even aboard 747/8s, the reason? It's that they weigh too much.
The other cabins are present and a Senator as Stan was impressed by the leap forward made by Lufthansa With these new premium cabs. Of course just being upgraded from 2-2-2 to 1-2-1 is already like going from a regular 500 to a 500e. The product designed by LH is revolutionary with optionals such as seat cooling and a door (on some seats) that insulates from the aisle.
Also new are premium economy, which is a evolution of the seat featured on board Swiss's 777s, and economy. While the new A350s, Dreamliners, and 777Xs (when they arrive) will all be configured with these cabins, retrofitting of the fleet will begin shortly, the company's announced target being to add 2 aircraft per month starting in 2025.
Also excluded from the cabin upgrade are the five Boeing 787-9s and four Airbus A350s that Lufthansa took over at short notice from Hainan Airlines and Philippine Airlines, respectively.
Where Lufthansa's new cabins fly.
Lufthansa's two hubs share the fleet neatly: Frankfurt is Boeing, Munich is Airbus. This means that until the first new 787 arrives, Allegris will only be in Munich. With only two A350s in service at the moment, both without First Class, which should arrive by the end of the year, it is easy to see that the network of destinations is not great. Destinations on the rise thanks to the fact that, Airbus permitting, LH should receive one A350 per month between now and the end of the year.
The planned routes are as follows:
- Until July it will fly only to Vancouver and Toronto
- From July, Chicago will be added.
- Shanghai in August will be the first destination to otiente
- Bangalore and Cape Town will debut by the start of the winter schedule
Missing from this list is Montreal which was originally planned among the initial destinations instead. As always with so few aircraft and such a large fleet, it is always possible that for operational reasons a change of machine will occur and remove (or insert) the new cabins at any moment.
In conclusion
Penelope's web seems to be moving toward its conclusion, sure it will take at least 6 years before the entire fleet receives the new cabins, but the most important thing is that they started to fly for everything else just wait.
