In recent days, and without any warning, the Lufthansa Group airlines' loyalty program has raised the already high fees charged with the issuance of award tickets. For example, fees and surcharges for an award ticket to North America have increased from €654 to about €870 for a round trip to New York City.

There is one feature that Miles & More offers to its members and that is to lower the surcharges and financial outlay that one has to incur when redeeming an award ticket.
The Flex Plus award ticket allows her to pay the supplements with award miles at the time of booking. Flex Plus is bookable for domestic, European and long-haul flights with Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS.
