I lost count of the lounges Plaza Premium I visited and reviewed, but it undoubtedly deserves the title of best independent lounge network in the world. Of course there are exceptions here too, but it is not difficult to excel in every corner of the world.
In this article:
The airport in Indonesia's capital is really beautiful and modern, at least the terminal used for intercontinental routes. And this lounge, compared to that of Garuda Indonesia, the national airline is a starred restaurant by comparison.
Location
We are in the vicinity of Gate 6, impossible to miss the huge sign at the entrance to the Saphire, Plaza Premium Lounge.
Access
Access to this network of lounges scattered around the world is free for American Express Platino holders (even the additional ones) and for Priority Pass owners. In the latter case if you have the PP linked to Italian Amex Platino you have access with a guest for free, for guests simply with the Amex Platino instead the rules change from card to card.
This lounge is also used by many carriers for their premium passengers, and the fact that KLM and Korean, two Skyteam airlines also use this lounge instead of Garuda's lounge that is ST member erases any doubt as to which of the two is better.
The lounge
It is a large open space overlooking the back of the airport, too bad it was nighttime during my visit; during the daytime, however, it must be pretty bright.
The first part of the lounge is the part designed for relaxation. The seats are poltrocas, comfortable, with power outlets and abat jour, all of which have power outlets. Along the glass wall are then seats that are more isolated and, at night, also less bright.
Going toward the back of the room leads to the Food & Beverage area, here there is a setup with bar tables, ideal for eating.
Food & Beverage
It is not just the decor that makes this lounge beautiful, but it is the food offerings that really make it among the best I have ever found.
There are two bar areas. One dedicated to the cafeteria and one dedicated to drinks. The first one is near the entrance. The second, on the other hand, is on the opposite side.
In addition to "basic" drinks, it offers paid options.
The kitchen is open and in addition to offering some self-service dishes, it also offers express dishes, freshly prepared to order.
The guest is handed the buzzer, as in fast food chains around the world.
Inevitable then is the island dedicated to beverages, hot and cold.
Services
There is a kids area, with toys and TV. Small, but adequate compared to the size of the rest of the room.
At the entrance, there is an area with lockers to leave suitcases
Then there would also be a First Lounge, but I guess it is for the exclusive use of a small circle of passengers.
In conclusion
If Garuda's is bad, this one is the exact opposite. Even if you can access in the other one my advice is to come directly here.
