Perhaps so as not to distract attention from the New Allegris booth, the Lufthansa Group did not announce with pomp and circumstance what is, in my opinion, great news: a new style of lounge also inspired by Allegris design.
Newark increasingly a viable alternative for flying to New York City
In this article:
Newark, has always been considered New York's second-rate airport., but investments in recent years and traffic congesting the roads to Manhattan from JFK have made this airport decidedly more attractive to many passengers and companies so much so that recently received the prestigious Skytrax 5 stars.
For example, United has not flown to JFK for years, on the New Jersey side of the Hudson lands almost every carrier from Europe and beyond, and soon ITA Airways will probably get there as well.
This is where Lufthansa decided to invest to usher in the group's future lounge style.
New Lufthansa lounge in Newark airport
It is not just a coat of stucco and paint, but a complete redesign aimed at ensuring greater comfort for all passengers. Not to mention that those traveling in business with LH, or with a Star Alliance carrier, will also have access to United's Clubs. This is a major improvement considering that Terminal B is the least beautiful terminal at the airport and that it is not possible to move between A and B without rechecking.
As mentioned no press releases or official presentations, it was Marc Suhr, the Lufthansa station manager for Newark Liberty International Airport who unveiled the new Lufthansa lounge on his LinkedIn profile.
"Today I had the pleasure of welcoming guests to our newly renovated Lufthansa lounge at EWR. A project started a long time ago, interrupted by Covid, is finally finished in the new Allegris style. More seats, more comfort, a better food and beverage offering, and an overall better appearance. At Lufthansa we say 'yes' to a premium lounge experience."
The lounge is located at Terminal B in the B3 Concourse near gates 60-68. The lounge is open daily from 2:15 pm to 9:30 pm. The change in style from the LH lounges can be felt from the entrance. Tones and style are reminiscent of the newly launched cabins aboard the A350s.
LH promises with this lounge more comfort, better food offerings and more space for guests. Zones suitable for those who want to do smartworking in a very relaxing environment.
The renovation also includes the lounge bar, a peninsula that expands into the center of the room. Guests can sit at the bar and enjoy a beer, strictly, German or a drink from the large selection of labels offered.
