As we have written several times Lufthansa Group's loyalty program at the beginning of the year changed accumulation mode qualifying points, i.e., those needed to achieve status. From a mode where miles flown (and related flight classes) counted to a fixed point count system, where each leg allows you to accumulate a fixed number of points net of ticket class or destination.
In this article:
Instead of status miles there are now Points, Qualifying Points and HON Circle Points. and the only distinctions are between continental and intercontinental flights and the cabin.
Which destinations earn the most points
Until December 31, 2024 you will earn an additional 50 points per route for all bookings (including those already made as of July 1) on selected Austrian, Lufthansa and SWISS long-haul flights in Business and First Class.
The destinations are:
- Los Angeles and San Francisco in the USA.
- Shanghai Pudong and Shanghai Hongqiao, Beijing and Hong Kong in China
- Tokyo
- Singapore
- Buenos Aires
- St. Paul's
For all flights in the defined travel period you will automatically and without registration receive an additional 50 points, qualifying points and HON Circle points per flight segment in Business Class (Lufthansa, Swiss: Business and First Class).
On the dedicated page on Austrian's website there is no mention to a maximum number of bonus points that can be accumulated. Interesting that the promo does not require activation and is retroactive.
