They had announced it e words have become deeds.
In this article:
The QSuite of the future, shown today as a world premiere at the Farnborough Air Show in London, will be Still for a long time the best business class cabin in the world. There is no doubt about it, because it already is, and with this upgrade the gap with the competition will be even sharper.
How Qatar's QSuite is changing
I have chronicled this cabin in dozens of articles, there are several video on youtube channel where I tell what it is like to travel aboard the best business class in the world and today I was able to experience firsthand what will be the evolution of the cabin.
This is not a facelift, not just a mid-career restyle As is the case with a car. It's the new version, and in Apple's words, "It's the best QSuite ever produced."
The philosophy remains the same, a modular booth that can simultaneously meet the needs of A single traveler, a couple or 4 friends. The evolution is precisely technological, in the materials and deep features of this marvel.
The main difference is all in the modularity of the panels that divide the passengers.
If in the current QSuite the monitors in the middle rows are sliding, allowing two pairs of travelers to look at each other's faces as they travel, now with this new cabin things will be even more spectacular.
I monitors not only scroll, but rotate, until they disappear into the structure which houses the doors to the suites, this means that the view will be completely unobstructed and you can truly travel in 4 looking into each other's eyes.
In contrast, things change so much for those who want to travel window-side. Today the QSuite offers a good experience, but nothing compared to what it will offer tomorrow.
Now it will be a whole different story and, I am willing to bet, if you are traveling in pairs you will choose this row and not the middle row. Now the seats will "look out" and the center wall that houses the screens, with the same philosophy as in the middle rows.
This means that you will be able to travel looking at each other's faces, eating like in a restaurant and simultaneously having windows on one side and a TV on the other. Protected by the usual Qsuite doors that now become even higher.
The new QSuite only on 777/9s.
The bad news, if we want to find the skin in the egg, is that there are currently no plans to retrofit aircraft currently in the fleet with this cabin. Not only is there no plan to upgrade those with QSuite version 1.0, but neither of the many planes flying today with different and much less attractive cabins than the QSuite.
This cabin will be installed on the new 777/9, which is the new generation The one that has just been given the green light to begin testing for certification. Delivery of the planes is expected to begin during 2025, but at the moment these are only hopes, of certainties there are none.
In conclusion
To all these may be added a total electrification of the seat, center bulkheads, 22″ 4K screens, induction charging, and more. Details that will be revealed in the coming months when plans are also clear and implementation as the delivery of the first of more than 50 777/9s that QR has on order approaches.
For now, only applause to Qatar for keeping its promise. It will be very difficult to snatch the crown from the Doha company, we shall see.
