The wait is over: The news had been in the air for some time, but now the officialdom has come. Korean Air, the national airline of South Korea, has unveiled the 'Prestige Suites 2.0', its new business class cabins.
In this article:
Goodbye Apex suite, welcome Prestige suite
Passwords: privacy e technology. The cabin, configured with a staggered layout 1-2-1 (so all passengers will have direct access to the corridor), it features real suite: there is the door (nearly 133cm high), the seats can be fully reclined so as to become a bed, and in-flight entertainment can be enjoyed via a 23.8-inch high-definition monitor.
Not to mention, then, the various usb-c and power outlets, the ability to wirelessly charge one's devices, and the storage spaces on the side of the seat. Finally, passengers will also be able to take advantage of wi-fi: the Boeing 787-10s will be the first in Korean Air's fleet to have internet connectivity on board.
Passengers flying as a couple with their sweetheart or friends, then, will greatly appreciate the middle seats of rows 7, 9, 11, 14, 16: once you lower the center divider, you will have the impression of flying in a real 'honey moon', with the two fully reclined seats forming a double bed.Â
Finally, note the predominant color of the new prestiges suites: for more than 20 years Korean used its iconic blue for cabin interiors; today, however, the new business class features darker and, if you will, more elegant colors.
Which aircraft will have the new 'Prestige suites'
The new product will debut on the new Boeing 787-10 outfitted in two classes of service, business and economy class: Korean has ordered about 20 of them, the first of which will enter service in late July; then the company will probably proceed with retrofitting its 777s.
In conclusion
Efficiency, technology, privacy: these could be the three words to describe Korean Air's new 'Prestige Suites 2.0'. The official debut of the new cabins is scheduled for the July 25 in the flight Seoul (ICN) - Tokyo (NRT).Â
