For airlines, the 'handing over the keys at the dealership' ceremony is always a special moment: in the case of the A321neo in question--picked up at Airbus' Hamburg headquarters last July 11--what made it even more spectacular was the new special livery, designed by Éva Kerényi (winner of a design competition organized last year by Wizz Air, which encouraged talent from around the world to create a livery for one of its Airbus A321neo aircraft).
There are two defining elements of the new livery: Wizz's colors and the company's commitment to the sustainability. The latter is celebrated by a intertwined leaf design that wrap the fuselage in Wizz's classic pink and blue colors and give a lively touch of green.
"I was inspired by Wizz Air's logo, which presents the plane as the vein of a leaf. That's why I kept the main leaf motif; I thought of thin lines with continuously growing leaves and Wizz Air's signature color scheme of pink and blue coming together. I imagined a delicate and elegant pattern with leaves and tendrils wrapping around the fuselage, echoing my beloved Art Nouveau," explained Éva Kerényi, the winner of the competition.
The Airbus A321neo, as it is known, not only incorporates the latest technologies in aviation and but offers, also, significant environmental benefits: noise reduction by almost 50%, fuel consumption reduction by 20%, and a 50% reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions compared to the previous model. To date, Wizz's fleet consists of. 214 aircraft of Airbus' A320 family, the 60% of which are in the "neo" version.
