Still have Millemiglia points? Turn them into Frecciarossa award tickets (or Volare points)

As we have already recounted in several articles the program MyMiglia, aka Alitalia's former Frequent Flyer, has changed hands and is now owned by Trenitalia. The rail transport company has not clarified what it intends to do with the data and members, and at the moment it has activated A series of cross promotion between the two programs.
Transfer Millemiglia points to CartaFRECCIA points.
In this article:
Until September 30, 2024 you can convert available miles into CartaFRECCIA points, benefiting from a conversion that turns 6 miles = 1 point CartaFRECCIA.
You can convert From a minimum of 6,000 miles to a maximum of 100,000 miles per single transaction, in increments of 2,000 miles, for example: 8,000, 10,000, 12,000, 14,000 miles, and so on.
On the dedicated page on the there would not appear to be an annual limit on the transfer of points, as was the case when conversion to Flying Blue points was possible., so it may be a way to permanently empty the Millemiglia piggy bank.
How to book a Frecciarossa award ticket

The table above summarizes the cost of award tickets for travel on Trenitalia's AV. With 6k Millemiglia points you can redeem a Florence/Bologna or Rome/Naples ticket. With double that you have enough points for a business class between Turin and Naples.
Beware of excluded dates, however; Trenitalia publishes a calendar each year where the dates for which award tickets will not be redeemable are marked.

As many as 62 dates are off limits in 2024. A truly penalizing choice that affects all frequent travelers, not just those who transferred points from MyMiglia, who cannot use the points to travel on summer weekends, holidays, and other "hot" dates.
From Millemiglia to Volare, via CartaFRECCIA
In recent days we have written about theAgreement that Volare, the FF of ITA Airways, has signed with Trenitalia and which allows members to transfer points from their Trenitalia card to their ITA card.

Taking advantage of this possibility then opens up for former Millemiglia customers to transfer at a rate of 1:1 from the former Alitalia program to the new ITA Airways program.
In conclusion
Excellent initiative by Trenitalia to convince those who still have points in the program to use them, for the rest we will see what else this collaboration succeeds in.
