There are five Airbus A380s present in the fleet of Etihad Airways and are currently employed on 3 routes: Abu Dhabi-London, Abu Dhabi-New York and, from November 2024, Abu Dhabi-Paris; to these 3, however, a 4th route is about to be added, even if only temporarily.
In this article:
From September 1, and until Oct. 26, Etihad will fly from its hub in Abu Dhabi to Jeddah right with the giant of the skies: with a distance of about 1,000 nautical miles and a duration of 2 hours 45 minutes/3 hours this is the shortest flight operated by Etihad with the Super Jumbo. It is not, however, the absolute shortest flight operated by this type of aircraft: just think of the very short connections operated by Emirates (e.g., the Dubai-Riyadh, which flies daily, takes less than 2 1/2 hours).
I already know what you are thinking and, while sorry, I have to 'kill the mood' (quote): no, on this route it is not possible to book (at least for now) "The Residence". As stated on the booking page on the Emirates carrier's website, the only two cabins available for this flight are economy and business class.
As mentioned, theA380 of Etihad does not fly to Italy: if, however, you are curious to try it out, protests fly from Rome to Munich, then from the German hub to Abu Dhabi, after that aboard the super jumbo to Jeddah.
Prices from FCO start at 618 euros for economy, and go up to 1676 for business class. Admittedly, it is not the most convenient - or even the fastest - way to reach the Red Sea city, but To fly on the A380 this and more.
