At 07:24 a.m. yesterday - about half an hour in advance - the flight MU785 of China Eastern departed from Shanghai (PVG) and landed at theVenice "Marco Polo" airport. Consuetude wanted that to welcome him, in addition to a delegation consisting of, among others, the top management of SAVE and the President of the Veneto region Luca Zaia, there was the usual 'water health' organized by the Fire Department detachment of the lagoon port of call.

Yesterday's was the inaugural flight of the Shanghai-Venice, a route that - according to forecasts - is expected to carry about 70,000 passengers in the first year alone: This is the first direct connection between the Lagoon and the Dragon Country.
The operative includes. 3 flights per week, every Monday, Thursday and Saturday; the aircraft used is the Airbus A330-200 outfitted in two classes, business and economy. Departure of flight MU785 from Shanghai is scheduled at 00:50 (local time), while arrival in the lagoon is scheduled for 07:50; on the reverse leg, however, it will take off from Venice at 11:30 and arrive in Shanghai (PVG) at 05:30 the next day (local time).
There are currently five Chinese airlines that connect Italy and China with a direct flight: Air China, China Southern, China Eastern, Sichuan Airlines and Hainan Airlines; three, however, are the Italian airports where these five carriers fly: Milan-Malpensa, Rome-Fiumicino and, as of yesterday, also Venice.
