Special liveries are nothing new for Brussels Airlines: just think of 'Loving', the spectacular livery created especially to celebrate the music festival Tomorrowland we wrote about a few months ago.

Well, we are returning to the topic because the Belgian flag carrier has launched a contest to create the new 'Belgian Icon': will undoubtedly be the 'most Belgian' of all, not only because the plane will take a little bit of Belgium around the world but also because of the fact that the livery will be entirely designed by citizens. The contest is open to anyone who is at least 16 years old and lives in Belgium (or holds the country's citizenship).
For those who do not know, the 'Belgian Icons' are nothing more than special liveries through which the company pays homage to Belgian culture. There are currently 3 Belgian Icons in service: 'Rackham', introduced in 2016, pays homage to the famous Belgian comic strip 'The Adventures of Tintin'; there is, then, the livery "Trident" dedicated to the Belgian national soccer team, both men's and women's; finally, the latest to be unveiled is 'Loving', to celebrate the Tomorrowland festival.
Anyone who wants to participate has until September 27 To submit your drawings (maximum 3 per person): early October, then, after a pre-selection made by an internal jury, participants will be able to vote for their favorite designs. The winner, who will be revealed by November 4, will not only have the chance to see 'their' livery painted in one of Brussels Airlines' aircraft, but will also have the opportunity to attend the presentation ceremony of the new Belgian icon.
