Having jammed this weekend to facilitate my departure from Arlanda Airport, I booked about a couple of months in advance, mainly because being a prepaid rate would have triggered the cashback related to the Amex Offer he proposed, against 400€ expenditure 100€ transfer directly to current account.
These are very attractive offers that American Express customers can take advantage of to lower the annual cost of the card. There are offers of all kinds And of each commodity category.
As always, I booked a basic room and the price of the stay was SEK 2864, at the exchange rate about €250. I also applied for an upgrade using one of my five NUAs Upgrade that went smoothly and from a basic room we ended up in Junior Suite with a view of the historic center, the most beautiful in the hotel.
Check-in
We arrived around 8 p.m. at the hotel and were surprised by an attendant who spoke perfect Italian.
And after the usual bureaucratic procedures we were in our #401 Suite.
The room
The difference between a Suite and a Junior Suite is that the former must have two separate rooms, while the Junior is a large room with a sitting area.
Our room mirrored Junior's criteria perfectly, in fact it was even much larger than I expected.
A small entrance with a "bar" area, the empty minibar in a hotel of this chain is something I do not conceive of.
Then a king bed, with a small topper, but worn and squeaky mattress.

Finally, a desk incorporated into the TV stand cabinet.
Waiting for us in the room is a thoughtful welcome and also a coffee maker. Un-Swedish decor, although some of the furnishings are very reminiscent of the "crap" found at the end of the furniture department at Ikea.

The hotel
The structure is a huge square building. The rooms face the outside or the inner courtyard.
The feeling is that the ground floor, where the public spaces are, has been renovated, while the rest of the hotel has not.
On the mezzanine level are the meeting areas, while on the second floor is the hotel's small gymnasium.
On the ground floor is the bar, the main restaurant, and a café.
The lounge
I had never found a lounge with such reduced hours. It's not a 24-hour space, but it's not an all-day space either.
Aesthetically it also leaves a lot to be desired since it is a dark space carved out between the breakfast room and the reception area. Really sad
Food & Beverage
We made the bad mistake of stopping for dinner at the hotel, worried that we would not find anything to eat given the propensity for early dining in Nordic countries.
Dishes mainly based on mushrooms, truffles and local products. Too bad that asking for something without "truffle" sent the kitchen into crisis. Dishes beautiful to look at, but not tasty at all.
Breakfast
Breakfast confirmed the feeling of the dinner. Not very nice and soulless.
I have no idea what exactly I was unconvinced about whether the strange color of the scrambled eggs (powdered?) or the staff's lack of work ethic.
The buffet appears messy, without logic. The quality is passable; let's just say it's one of those unmemorable breakfasts that you forget you've had 10 minutes after you get up from the table.
In conclusion
Great for the location, really close to everything. Suite is lived in, as is the mattress. There are not many places to do Marriott points in the city, here they mainly command Radisson and other less popular chains in Italy.
