I googled the meaning of the word Serendib. Serendib is one of the ancient names of Sri Lanka.
In this article:
Coined by the Arabs and Persians, it is a transformation of a name the Indians used for the island, a version of Sidhaleepa, which means "the abode of the lion's island."
Did you get your flight cancelled, miss your connection, land late?
You could get up to 600€ compensation per person
It's nice that the national airline chose this name for its signature lounge in the capital's Colombo airport. And I couldn't resist taking a selfie with this signature lounge.
Location
We are located in the middle of the international terminal, for local flights there is a small hall in the other area of the terminal.
It is located right in the middle of the corridor leading to the gates. If you arrive in transit it remains 50 mt after the security crossing.
Access
This is the company's official lounge, SriLankan participates in oneworld alliance so in addition to premium passengers and status holders in the local loyalty program, holders of Sapphire status or higher in other OW companies are also welcome.
The lounge
We are not in Singapore or even Bangkok, so One should not have high expectations. Taking into consideration where we are, though, it's not bad at all.
Nice and bright with endless views of the finger area, just a pity it's not exactly as busy as Heathrow.
In the center is the buffet area, which is set up with high tables. There is also a nice, well-stocked bar counter here.
On either side are small sofas with small tables and (a few) power outlets.
At the level of ancillary services, there is a relaxation area, with sofas where you can take a nap.
A small storage facility where you can leave your trolley to take a tour around the terminal.
A business corner with pc and printer.
The most beautiful thing about the lounge is definitely the huge reception desk, in the center of the two traditional statues.
Clean and manned bathrooms all the time and even a shower.
Food & Beverage
For the size I have to say that this buffet is very rich, and the nice thing is the open kitchen elevated behind it. There is a little bit of everything and also not only from local flavors.
The bar counter, like the galleys of SriLankan aircraft is really stocked.
In conclusion
Not bad, in fact. More than adequate and superior to some lounges of more emblazoned carriers I found around Asia.

Pro
- Food and wine proposal
- Relaxation area
- Beautiful view
Against
- Few power outlets
