27 years old, 47,000 takeoffs and landings, 1315 trips around the world, and over 73000 hours spent in the air: these are the numbers of the (very long) life of a Airbus A321 by SWISS which, on October 24, 2022, landed for the last time at its base in Zurich.

What happened to the aircraft in question? The A321 - makes HB-IOC - after being taken out of service, underwent the usual 'part-out': in a nutshell, the Swiss Technics team, before dismantling the aircraft, identified and removed all items that might prove useful as spares for other aircraft in the fleet or for training purposes.
The work of Swiss's technical teams, however, did not stop there: some parts of HB-IOC, in fact, were recycle. How? The Swiss company decided to create the SWISS Recraft Collection: a range of items dedicated to the av geek eager to have a piece - literally - of aviation history inside their home.
Labels for luggage, keychain, coat rack, wall hooks, mirrors e side tables: Swiss created this by upcycling some parts of decommissioned aircraft (including HB-IOC). The goal of the SWISS Recraft Collection pilot project is absolutely noble: Reduce environmental impact as much as possible.
The Recraft collection will be available in the wordshop of Swiss from the next November 1; until Nov. 3, however, a winglet e two windows of the A321 HB-IOC. To try to win them, simply log on to the Ricardo online auction platform: The proceeds from the sale, Swiss points out, will be donated to a good cause.
