More and more companies are making the wi-fi on board of their own aircraft: the latest is Japan Airlines.
In this article:
As of last Tuesday, October 1, JAL began offering the free connection to all business class passengers in international flights; this is undoubtedly good news, partly because until now free wi-fi was the preserve of first-class customers. Japan Airlines' wi-fi service is not only free but is also unrestricted: For business class passengers, there are no data or time limits on usage.

Limitations, however, are present for premium economy and economy passengers traveling on an international flight. These changes about connectivity affect them as well: as of yesterday, they can use in-flight wi-fi for free, but only for 1 hour. At the end of the free use period, passengers may decide to purchase a data plan.

The only sore point: Japan Airlines uses the Panasonic wi-fi, not exactly the fastest provider. In any case, the introduction of free Internet access for business passengers (and to some extent for those traveling in tourist class) is still very good news as well as a big convenience.
