Marriott Bonvoy and Air Canada have launched a new partnership which allows Bonvoy elite members to obtain Aeroplan status and selected Aeroplan members to obtain Marriott Bonvoy status. An initiative similar to that launched last year with Singapore Airlines and confirming that Bonvoy is very active in airline partnerships starting with the historic partnership with Emirates.

Under the status match partnership, Aeroplan 50K, 75K and Super Elite members are entitled to Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status, which includes exclusive benefits such as priority late check-out, room upgrades and 25% extra Bonvoy points on each stay.

And I must say. as a user of Aeroplan points and as a Titanium Bonovoy, this is really crazy cool.
Ability to exchange points between programs at a favorable rate
Aeroplan Elite members can Convert their Aeroplan points to Marriott Bonvoy points at a 1:1 ratio, this option is in addition to the reverse option that allows you to convert Marriott Bonvoy points to Aeroplan points at a 3:1 ratio.

If you meet the requirements, meaning you have one of the statuses affected by this promotion, you can go On the page dedicated to the initiative.
In my case, being a Titanium Bonvoy user I applied by linking my account in the Marriott loyalty program to that of Aeroplan.
Promoted 25K in less than 3 clicks
All I had to do, once I logged in with my Bonvoy credentials, was enter my Aeroplan number.
And within 5 seconds I received the outcome of my request.
Aeroplan side only needed a refresh of the page to immediately see my card color updated.
Without ever having accumulated a flight on Aeroplan, Without having made any flights with Air Canada since as far back as 2022, here it is. Until the end of 2025, I will be able to take advantage of the benefits provided from the first level of its loyalty program, sure it doesn't count as Gold Star Alliance, but for me who often use Canadian frequent flyer points it is definitely a small, but important, advantage.
In conclusion
Loyalty, I explain in hundreds of articles rewards, but I always remember that certain opportunities must be taken advantage of if you are going to use them, make a status match just to make no sense.
