As they say: times have changed. Ryanair Is ready to officially say goodbye to paper.
In this article:
A few days ago, during a press conference, Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary revealed that his company is ready to significantly change the procedures of check-in. Specifically, within the next 6 months, FR intends to. eliminate paper boarding passes and ban the ability to check in at the airport.
In the near future, therefore, the only way to check in will be through the company's app or website. As for, however, luggage drop-off, there will be no change: it will, of course, be possible to do so at the dedicated counters in the air terminals.
As specified on the company's website, you can currently only check in at the airport for free if you have purchased a 'Flexi' tariff o 'Plus'. Those who, on the other hand, have purchased a lower fare ('regular' or 'basic'), and want to obtain a boarding pass at the airport, will have to shell out to the tune of €55,00.
Will this change have a significant impact? For the vast majority of travelers, probably not; all, or most, of us are now accustomed to transacting business via app. It may, however, prove unfair to those who are not too accustomed to technology (think, for example, of the elderly people).
